I've seen the board used alone, albeit rarely. I've also seen the indicator shoot off the board and across the room with noone touching it. I haven't used ours in a long time as most information found through it proved to be more unreliable than other methods. The damn spirits/demons/or whatever can't spell worth a damn either.

Abaddon, I used it with another person when I had success with it. I have seen pendulum boards with the alphabet on it as well as the yes, no, and maybe. I've heard it both ways too. That you can use the ouija alone and that you can't. I guess one just needs to try it for their selves.

About the Necronomicon, perhaps the power raised can be challenging to control. I had a friend who was mad at a neighbor. In my basement at my altar he did a ritual out of the book. A short time later his troublesome neighbor got very drunk, went on a rampage that got him evicted. However, the next night my friends neighbor in the apartment above his went berserk and threw his wife out the window. Oh well, Hell!!! At least he got results.
